Lemon Tart

Lemons you say! They are quite tart. Don’t we all just love that first moment when we give that baby the the first slice of lemon they’ve been reaching for. That pucker! That crinkled nose!

The first hit on the tongue, sour. Followed by a hint of sweetness. We can often react to certain situations or revelations in this way. Our instinct to recoil, move away from the offense. Maybe it is warranted, maybe it is not. Maybe you hold your tongue to digest for awhile before you react.

Easy? No, not easy. Back away, give yourself some room to breathe. Take the birds eye view approach before you gather your response.

Perhaps, well, maybe not perhaps…Sometimes, every once in a while you will find yourself in a situation where neither one of you will budge on your position. That is OK if you both allow the white flag of truce to fly. No flag available? Well now, that really is unfortunate.

You must remain true to your beliefs. Honor your own authority in every situation. There is no need to sink into despair here, clarity is a gift. There is also no need for grudgery either. Give the very compassion you yourself seek.

I know you think I’m going to bring up the usual; No, no, I’m not. This situation calls for butter! Cream the sugar and add your ingredients. Bake until the edges are set. When you are ready to indulge in this tasty treat take a moment to sit with a heart full of gratitude for the sour and the sweet.
