Good morning. I’m feeling so tired this morning. You’ve been waiting to share your message, I’m ready right after I make a nice cup of coffee. ‘Good isn’t it.’
Yes, just what I needed. ‘We all need a little pep in our step from time to time.’
For sure. With whom am I speaking with please? ‘George Orwell.’
Hi George, who are you? ‘A favorite pastime.’
(His name sounds familiar so I look it up. George Orwell is his pen name.) Is that you? Eric Arthur Blair? ‘Yes.’
You are quite handsome. ‘Now, now. No one has ever accused me of that!’ (Eric laughs.)
Should I call you George or Eric? ‘You can call me Eric, my friends do.’
Thank you. (This is where my husband walks in. He has read a few of Eric’s books and loved them. Bill asks the next question.) Were you a little early or a little late with 1984? ‘Right on time.’
Bill is a big fan of your work. He said it has been taken off of the mandatory reading list in many of our schools. ‘See, that’s what’s wrong here. Free thought and free expression have turned into an outward display of “I’ll show you!”. That just creates division. Yes, there has always been that divide but now it is the Grand Canyon. Well now, that line is on the move now isn’t it. Get ready, the chickens are restless and the Apple Cart has been knocked over.’
Is that a good thing? ‘You bet it is. Do not be so quick to accept what has been the status quo. The rhetoric is just that, noisy static. Turn the channel, turn it off. Think for yourself, stop allowing others to write your narrative. You are not mere sheep to be led blindly to slaughter. Rise up in your own righteous sovereignty. Own the life you have been gifted. Yes. It is a gift. Many have been denied what you callously shrug off. Now is the time folks. Let’s come together and let the puppet masters fall. You rule the roost my friend remember that and all will be as it should.
