Benjamin Franklin’s Earthy Mushrooms

I am very interested to hear about mushrooms. How do they tie into the lives we lead today?

‘I’m glad you asked. (‘Said’ tongue-in-cheek.)

I’m ready.

(Smiling.) ‘Mushrooms’. (Said like Billy Crystal in the Princess Bride.)

Very funny! Who is telling this very important story today?

‘Benjamin Franklin, at your service.’ (He bows.)

Carry on Mr. Franklin.

‘Mushrooms are only seen once they emerge from the darkness. This however is not the beginning and end of this mushroom.’

If you pick and eat the mushroom, it’s the end of the mushroom though.

‘Not so.’

Do tell.

‘The mushroom seen is a lifetime, a single lifetime. Underneath the soil there are whole, complete, intricate, vibrationally alive, beautiful roots. These roots are connected to other roots, connected to other roots and on and on. This weave of roots we call the fabric of life. All is connected through this weave.’

The roots don’t die when the mushroom is picked or withers away?

‘On the contrary. Every experience the mushroom has, whether it be the crawling ant or the morning dew is of use. This conscious plant will only become stronger and more connected as it grows and expands with new knowledge of itself.’

Is every plant like this?

‘Yes, every plant, every life.’

How did you like to eat your mushrooms Benjamin?

‘Wine and butter!’ (He rubs his belly.)

What else would you like to share today?

‘Like the roots, we are all connected. There is such beauty in this unending fabric. There is so much to learn, so much to explore in wonderment.’

What is your favorite thing that you have learned?

(He shows me the infinity symbol with a spark in the middle.) ‘No beginning, no end.’

What is your spirit animal? (He winks.) ‘The fox.’

Thank you for sharing Benjamin, you are welcomed anytime!

‘My dear.’ (As he nods his head.)
