Janis Joplin

Janis, You look so happy in your pictures but there seems to be an undercurrent of sadness. Is there anything you would like to share?

‘I should have had more time.’

You died so young. Twenty seven, and so much to live for. What happened?

‘I was high as a mother fucker, that’s what happened. More, more, more. Just give me more. My life was intense, full throttle. Go baby go.’

Why did you need the drugs?

‘I didn’t need it. I wanted what I wanted, we all did. Party ’till you drop, well, I dropped. (She laughs.)’

Were you happy?

‘Happy is a metaphor.’

Metaphor for what?

‘Illusion. The illusion of happiness is making records baby. The music, the people, I loved that part. To be free though and then not free. To be bought and controlled, well, that costs you. That’s why there are so many tragic fame and fortune stories.’

Is there anyone you need to ask forgiveness from?

‘Myself. It wasn’t my intension to go so soon.’

Have you had another life her since then?

‘No. Not until the last person that knew me dies in that timeline.’

Are you a singer in other time lines?

‘All of them baby! I think the opera one is my favorite. I can belt that shit out loud!’

That’s awesome!

‘Ya, it is.’

Is there anything else you wish to share?

‘Tell them all to be lovers, not haters. Your time there is short, make it matter. Love and kindness, that’s what’s up.’

Love you Janis, thank you.

(She hold up her hand, fingers showing me the peace sign as she smiles.)
