Intentions

Every perceived wrong or right is a lesson in perception. What lays behind, over and underneath one’s actions? There are simple, straightforward ones then there are those that are layered. Pure intentionality is easy to recognize. This is at times the eye for an eye. Or, perhaps a kindness was extended to you so you intern extended this on to another. Though these may be easily seen and known for what they are, there is still the why.

We are a simple yet complex species. Settle down now, you know this to be truth. Let us explore the eye for an eye scenario first. You hurt me so now I hurt you is the elementary version of the story. The secondary version is quite different. Years of injustices, abuses, inferiority, unfavor and biases have left their mark. The mud is deep. The mud is heavy. Emotions lie so near to the surface allowing the mind to freely interfere and disrupt. When you are in this quagmire, the slightest insult becomes a tidal wave of emotional upheaval.

Next, we will explore those that exude kindness and goodwill. One might have always been this little, at times annoying, chirpy thing. More than not though, there is a backstory. There is often the familiar tune of I’ve been where you are now.

So, here we are. We circle back around to intentionality. For those that transgress against you, look for the motive. Assess the situation. Is this hurt causing hurt or simply an oversight? Both scenarios are of equal value. There are times when a relationship has run its course and it is time to move on. There too are times when you decide to wipe the mud from your boots. Let that heaviness fall away to lessen those perceived injustices.

Set your intentions. Find your own compassion for your life story. Allow your past reverence for there was much to learn. Now is the time to intentionally set that aside, it is no longer useful. Now is the time for your self love and forgiveness. Compassion is a scope of understanding at a different level. That is why it is so powerful. The energy of this emotion is palpable, this is the energy that heals old, tired wounds of the heart.
