Toadstool Soup; a conversation with Margaret.

Good evening, sure is hot today. ‘Hot enough to boil a toad!’

Hi Margaret! You sure are funny. ‘Why not, there’s no need to be so serious, head down all the time.’

You’re right of course! Have a story to share? ‘Boy, do I ever. Been waiting for this one!’

OK, let me have it, I’m ready. ‘Toadstool Soup.’

Say what?! It’s way too hot for soup! ‘Ahem, Toadstool Soup.’

What exactly is Toadstool Soup please? ‘Mushroom soup.’

Why the toad reference? ‘Who would want to make Stool Soup! (Margaret laughs.) This soup is quite the enlightening experience.’

‘As you know, mushrooms are connected to every living thing in the universe. The soup is your galaxy in one pot. You may have other pots on the stove with other galaxies in them.’

‘When you go within, quiet the mind, spend time in meditation, you learn. First, you learn from all of the ingredients in your own pot of soup. Once you have learned to perfect your own pot of soup and know this recipe by heart, it is then that you are able to move onto the next pot of soup. This goes on and on. The pots of soup are on a 24 hour open Buffet.’

‘Start with your soup, ask the most basic questions first and move up from there. It is similar to the street vendor selling this soup, on up to the Michelin Star serving this more evolved, decadent version of the same soup.’

‘In your pot of soup there is life, love, energy. Eat this soup however you like. Hot, cold. Hot sauce, salt, pepper. You could even sprinkle in some cheese. You decide how to enjoy your soup, it’s your soup. Feel free to invite others to join you or ask to sit at another table. Compare the recipe, talk about the ingredients. Ask if there really is a toad in your soup.’

That’s cute and clever! Anything else you wish to share? ‘You my dear are onto another pot of soup. Get your bib ready for you will need it!’

Exciting, thank you Margaret. ‘It is exciting, enjoy!
